Critical Home Repair/Rehabilitation - Highlights

Partner: Dayton Ohio Habitat for Humanity
Special emphasis on reaching seniors and veterans to provide extensive interior or exterior work to alleviate critical health, life and safety issues or code violations.
Repairs are made using grants, backed by a five year silent subordinate mortgage, 100% of which will be forgiven after 60 months. Homeowners who are at or below 200% of AMI are eligible to receive assistance.

Accessibility Modification - Highlights

Partner: Rebuilding Together Dayton
Targeted to existing single family owner-occupied homes with residents who are at or below 100% of AMI, and are disabled or elderly and need modifications to their homes to enable them to age in place and to more fully use and enjoy their residence.
Repairs are made using grants, backed by a five year silent subordinate mortgage, 100% of which will be forgiven after 60 months.
Examples include the installation of aluminum modular ramps for people who use wheelchairs, bathroom modifications, and installation of grab bars, etc.

Wesley Community Center – Capacity Building

Partner: Wesley Community Center
To strengthen the Wesley Community Center and help move the Center forward in its mission to the community.
For the past 47 years, Wesley has served the West Dayton community and the Miami Valley with the mission of “Helping Others through God Centered Principles.” The Center has earned the reputation as a reliable, committed, faith-based organization that cares for families and individual experiencing personal crises.

Wesley Capacity Building - Highlights

  • Funds to construct handicap accessible restrooms
  • Funds for a new roof for the entire facility
  • Repaving and sealing of the parking lot
  • New logo and signage
  • Majority of loans in 45426 - Trotwood

ICF Quality of Life Grants

MVFHC solicited applications from non-profit organizations, neighborhood associations, social or fraternal organizations, or other unincorporated groups for Quality of Life Projects in 45417 and 45426.
Examples include:

  • modifying a vacant lot into a pocket park or urban garden;
  • public arts projects such as murals promoting diversity, civil rights or fair housing;
  • neighborhood beautification projects;
  • or other new, innovative projects

Eligibility

  • Organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
  • and for this program only, to neighborhood associations, social or fraternal organizations, or other unincorporated groups that may not have a formal structure or tax exempt status, are consistent with the MVFHC’s mission and target the funding purpose for this program
Summer Program $75 Gift Card enabled youth (ages 17 and under) to purchase a combo pass redeemable for use of the fitness area, aquatic passes, fitness classes, karate classes, swimming lessons, camp fees, or athletic programs.
MVFHC distributed 239 gift cards for a total of $17,925
